Who is
Terry Dean?
Short biographical sketch
Terry Dean is - in my opinion -
one the most clever Internet marketers on the scene today. He
has constantly been able to keep up to date with the latest
advances in Information Marketing on the Internet.
Besides, Terry is one of the
most successful Internet marketers out there.
From a very humble start, he
has managed to build up a very successful business on the
Internet.
What I particularly like about
Terry's products, is Terry's down-to-earth way of
communicating even the more complicated details on marketing
on the Internet.
For instance his report on how
to rank high on the search engines, is written so simple and
straight forward, that anyone can use his report to ahead and
get positive results from the search engines.
So not only does Terry give
good advice. But he also has a talent for simplifying
complicated things.
Personally, I have found
Terry's books tremendously helpful.
I think his books will appeal
both to the beginner and to the more advanced Internet
marketer. Besides, Terry has published a lot of really helpful
articles and free e-books. Just take a look at his website (http://www.bizpromo.com)!
Finally I would like to mention
that Terry's personal story is very encouraging.
As you know, Terry Dean is
today a tremendously successful marketer. I would guess that
he is earning a six or seven figure each year - even though I
don't know about this. It's just a guess.
But whatever, things were
certainly very different just a few years ago!
He had all kinds of different
jobs. And just before he launched his Internet business, he
did deliver pizzas.
As Terry himself says in the
interview below: "This is the proof that anyone can make
it online if they work at it!"
A short interview with Terry
Dean
Terry, where did you grow
up?
I grew up in Richmond, Indiana
where I still live.
What is your education?
I was in college for pastoral
ministry, although I did not finish.
What did you work with
before you became a fulltime entrepreneur?
I worked a bunch of stupid
jobs. I delivered pizzas right before
I started my original business online. This is the proof
that
anyone can make it online if they work at it. We have
now been
full-time (my wife and I) for just over 3 years now.
How did you become an
entrepreneur?
I had wanted to be an
entrepreneur and had tried everything such
as network marketing, mail order, etc., but I never really
found
success until I bought reprint rights to another person's
marketing
course...studied it...applied it...and went full time online
within
6 months selling it. My wife started working with me a
year later.
Which information products
have you created, published and/or sold?
I originally started by buying
reprint rights to quality products I felt
would sell. Almost without fail, everyone of them would
make money
for me. Then, after two years of making money full-time
online I started
developing my own products.
How is your business doing?
We are doing well...Our
business volume has grown consistently over
the past few years until we are doing very well now.
How are you looking at
the future - for your business and home based
businesses in general?
Home businesses need to become
more focused in the future. Corporations
online have been consistently unintelligent in marketing
online so we
really haven't had a lot of competition to deal with...yet.
They are going to
get smarter so we will see a major war for the Internet taking
place.
You have two choices for
a business online now.
Number one is
to work on a business idea in the general market, try to
get venture backing, then sell out for millions. The
major problem with
this is that you have to deal with the stress of employees,
stockholders,
and often work on something you really don't like. In my
opinion and for
me, it isn't worth it.
Number two is
to focus on a very specific niche group. Don't do a
general
web site. Laser target a market down to the point where
you can create
a web site which is one of the top three sites in that market
(if not the
best) without a major budget and without staffing. Don't
just jump
on the Internet marketing bandwagon like everyone else.
Choose to
do something you love and then work your butt off to make it
succeed.
Do you have any
particular points of view on the state of modern
entrepreneurship, Internet and Direct Marketing? (Kind of
USP)
Lifestyle is more important
than the money. When you first get
started as an entrepreneur the money is the most important
thing.
Once you have done it for a while and know how to market,
money
won't motivate you anymore. Find a passion to follow
after in your
business. Then, the money will follow.
