Review

One major obstacle to creating your own information products, is that writing is very time consuming for most people. After all, you can’t write as fast as you talk, and many people find it difficult to write down their thoughts in a structured and readable way. Often you hear about authors who’ve spent years on writing just one book. Consequently, many new infopreneurs tend to look for other ways of creating their info products.

The problem is just, that writing is such an important way to communicate your message, however difficult it may be to many entrepreneurs. Many buyers – myself included - prefer to have the information they buy from you in written form. Besides, writing down your thoughts, will often give you a better overview over your train of thought. This, in turn, will make it easier to hold a speech or record an audio version of information.

In other words, it’s difficult to publish your information without having to turn to writing at one point or another. Before or later you probably will have to write something about your subject.

So naturally, when I read that Steve Manning has published a course how to write a book in 14 days, I got very interested. Could this really be true?

I already knew that Steve is one of today’s most prolific writers. Besides, several master infopreneurs and authors whom I already highly respect, such as Robert Bly and Monique Harris, have given Steve Manning and his course some terrific testimonials. In fact, Monique Harris thinks so much about Steve’s course that she calls it her secret weapon. This really made me curious, as you can imagine.

When Steve promises his readers that they’ll be able to write their book in 14 days or less he literally means 14 days, he says. The 14 days are meant to be taken quite literally. This doesn’t mean, though, that you have to sit down and write for 14 times 24 hours in order to write your book. Steve’s method system doesn’t require you to write more than about an hour or two a day - maybe even less.

So I was really curious to see what Steve was going to tell me in this course.

And I certainly didn’t get disappointed! After having studied Steve’s course in detail, really trying to grip his technique and personally having tested his methods and techniques, my conclusion is that ”How to write a book on anything – in 14 days or less – guaranteed!” is one of the most important courses on information product development I’ve yet seen.

Many of Steve’s techniques aren’t new or totally unique. Actually I already knew most of them, while a few were new or partly new to me. But the strength of Steve’s system is that he combines the different techniques into a complete speed writing system that’s very easy and highly effective to use. Instead of just giving you a few independent and weak ideas, Steve has created a complete speed-writing system which will show you in detail exactly how to write a book (or a manual, article or whatever) in only days, instead of months or years.

As I just said, many of the techniques in Steve’s system is already known by many professional authors. But Steve has given them his own twist, and combines them into a complete and unique, ready-to-use system.

For instance, Steve Manning recommends that you write without being critical of what you’re writing. This means that you are going to write exactly what you think on your subject. Don’t be critical. Just get your thoughts down on the paper first, and then afterwards you can revise what you’ve written. This technique is well known, as it’s been described by many other authors, such as Joe Vitale (in his book “Turbocharge Your Writing”), David Fryxell (in his book “How To Write Fast – While Writing Well”) and Joel Saltzman (in his book “If You Can Talk, You Can Write”). So I already knew this technique well, and I’ve been using it for years. I also knew and used the technique of making an outline for what you’re going to write which has also been described by many other authors. Finally, I also knew Steve’s question and answer technique (described in his course), which have been described by several other authors, such as Joe Barnes and Gordon Burgett.

BUT, as I just said above, what makes Steve’s book outstanding and unique is that he takes these well known techniques and combines them into a complete system that makes the writing process a much easier and more fun task. In Steve Manning’s system these methods become much more effective, and Steve shows his readers (and listeners) exactly how to use them in order to write a maximum speed.

Steve gives these well known concepts his own unique twist. He polishes these methods and takes the nonsense out of them. And then he adds his own proven way of making these techniques really effective and useable for you.

For instance, Steve has a unique way of turning the usual outlining process into a much, much easier and more effective task than usual. And when you understand his unique three word technique (you’ll have to read his course in order to understand it), you’ll have a really powerful weapon in your writing arsenal.

This technique turns the usual hard work of writing into a play. Besides, after having learned Steve’s techniques, you’ll be able to write your book in short five minute periods – in between the other tasks in your normal routine. And believe me, I’m not exaggerating here. Steve’s technique really works.

Not only does he show you how to write much faster than you ever thought possible. He also shows you how to make your writings readable the first time, almost ready to be published without any editing.

Further, he shows you how to find your best topic, how to research your book in almost no time at all, how to become an expert on your subject the easy way, how to edit your book the easy way, how to find a publisher who’s willing to publish your book, how to get free publicity for your book, how to use your book as your strongest marketing tool, how to write your own life story, how to almost force people to read on and on in your book, etc., etc.

You really get so much valuable information here, that many of the chapters could easily have been turned into a complete, original course for themselves. But Steve has chosen to assemble all this information in this valuable course.

One very commendable aspect of Steve’s course is that he doesn’t just give his readers the pure facts they need. He does give them the facts. But in addition Steve is also very strong on MOTIVATING his readers. For instance, take his section on how to become an expert and why you should never be scared away from writing due to your imagined inability. This part of Steve’s course is some of the most motivating business stuff I’ve ever read. It’s that good!

I have a few suggestions for improvements that would make the course even more helpful. First of all, Steve primarily focuses on how to write retail books which are then published by one of the established publishing houses. He does mention self-publishing as a possibility several places, which is commendable. But to make the course complete, an application of Steve’s system to other kinds of written information would have been really helpful. For instance, it’s very normal that self-publishers write manuals and whole courses – just like Steve’s own course. And these manuals and courses usually doesn’t follow the norms of retail books. A typical manual or course may have longer, or shorter, chapters than retail books, just to mention one difference – just as it’s the case with Steve’s own course.

Now, this isn’t a criticism of ”How to write a book on anything – in 14 days or less – guaranteed!”, as it isn’t that difficult to transfer Steve’s system to creating manuals, for instance. You just have to adjust it a little bit. But it would have been very interesting and helpful to know Steve’s thought on this.

Another point of possible improvement, would be to learn Steve’s thought on how you can apply his system to more technical writing. Steve mentions that one of his friends used his system to write a doctoral paper in just weeks. Again, it isn’t that difficult to adjust Steve’s system to this kind of writing, but it would have been very interesting and helpful to hear Steve’s thoughts on this.

The tapes and the video which are also part of ”How to write a book on anything – in 14 days or less – guaranteed!”, are helpful additions. The cover almost the same material as the manual. But as you know, it’s often much easier to absorb some new information if you learn it through different means and look upon it from slightly different angles. Besides, you’ll see how some participants of Steve’s seminars have used his important exercises. Steve is one of the fastest speakers I’ve ever heard, which requires you to be very concentrated while going through his audio- and video-tapes. But on the positive side, this means that you’ll get a lot of information in minimum time.

Summary

I count ”How to write a book on anything – in 14 days or less – guaranteed!” to be one of the most important additions to my personal business library.

Steve Manning really shows how to turn writing into a pleasant and enjoyable experience. He really delivers as promised in his sales letter.

In short, this is one of the most valuable business courses I’ve ever read. It’s a fantastic deal! This course alone can be responsible for hundreds or thousands of dollars, if not millions, of profit for you, provided you actually follow Steve’s guidance.

Take my advice, Buy this course! It’s really a fantastic course!
