Success Secrets Revealed"

Review

If you're doing some offline business - and even if you're only marketing online - using classified ads is one of the most effective ways to market your business.

However, a lot of people have also abandoned classified ads as a way to market their services or products effectively.

"Classified ads simply doesn't work any longer," you'll hear many business owners say.

The author of this book, marketing consultant, Internet marketer and author Steve Hackney, doesn't agree. Instead his message is this:

- Classified ads can be very effective, provided you know how to write them and how to place them in the right media for maximum effectiveness.

During the years I've read many books on the subject of classified advertising. If you've been active in the Marketing niche for some years, you'll probably know that classified ads was responsible for the fortunes many of the old mail-order gurus earned. Such famous marketers as Dan S. Kennedy, Jeff Paul, Ted Nicholas and Melvin Powers have earned fortunes through classified ads.

But again, if you want to turn classified ads into goldmines, you need to how exactly how to write them, where to place them, how to position them, how often you're going to place them and how to test your results.

And that's precisely the aim of this book by Steve Hackney, "Classified Advertising - Success Secrets Revealed".

In "Classified Advertising - Success Secrets Revealed" step-by-step covers the process of running successful classified ads.

You'll learn how to build your classified ads step-by-step. Steve Hackney really goes to great lengths to explain each step in the process. However, the descriptions never get boring. At least that's my impression.

The descriptions of the individual steps are really helpful, and you get all the details you need to implement each step. The only exception, in my opinion, is chapter 6 (on recording and tracking the ad results) which could be a bit more detailed. But except for this chapter, the book is very detailed.

"Classified Advertising - Success Secrets Revealed" and "The Wipeout Technique"
Much of the content in "Classified Advertising - Success Secrets Revealed" overlap the content in Steve Hackney's other book, "The Wipeout Technique". This is only natural, considering how much the two subjects overlap each other. Directory ads are often classified ads or smaller display ads. However, "Classified Advertising - Success Secrets Revealed" does also contain a few points that aren't included in "The Wipeout Technique". Despite all the similarities between the two books, the perspectives are a bit different, so you might benefit from reading both books.

Overall assessment

This is a great guide to writing order-pulling classified ads! Not only do you learn how to write classified ads. You also learn where to place them, both how to find the right magazines, newspaper etc., and how to get the ideal placement (in each magazine, newspaper etc.) for each ad.

Besides, Steve Hackney places classified ads in a larger context, which is important. Successful classified ads are usually only the first step in a process of two or more steps. Steve Hackney knows this very well, and he emphasises how to use cheap classified ads to get a high profit.

I heartily recommend this fine book!
