Review
Michael Green is a relatively new name on the Internet
scene. At least he was to me until about a year ago. However,
in record time he and his products have become known to a lot
of people. If you take a look at Clickbank.com's list over
their most popular affiliate programs, you'll notice that
Michael Green's course rank in the absolute top. At least they
do at the time of this writing.
The first product by Michael Green, which I bought, was
this course, his "Easy Ezine Toolkit". Honestly,
what first of all attracted me to this product was a
combination of Michael's profesional looking web site (nice
graphics, great sales letter etc.) and the uniqueness of this
product. I immediately sensed that Michael had his own, unique
approach to the subject.
In "Easy Ezine Toolkit" Michael intend to show
his readers how they can create their own highly profitable
ezine. He doesn't only cover such topics as how to write your
own articles, how to format your articles, the usual steps to
getting more etc. No, Michael goes further. What he tries to
show his readers in this book, is how they can position their
own ezine so that their subscribers and readers look forward
to each new issue. It isn't enough just to have a huge
database of subscribers. No, if you don't give your readers
quality information, thousands of subscribers won't do you any
good. In other words, don't sacrifice the quality of your
ezine for the quantity of your subscribers.
Michael covers a lot in "Easy Ezine Toolkit". He
gives you a good and clear definition of what an ezine is. He
shows you why they're so popular - or rather why SOME ezines
are so popular.
You'll also learn...
- how to send your ezine to your readers while minimizing
spam complaints as much as possible.
- how to get your ezine's content together.
- whether you should publish your ezine in pure
text-format (ASCII) or in HTML-format.
- how to set up and format your ezine so that it looks
nice and is readable.
- how to name your ezine for maximum readership.
- how to give each new issue of your ezine a much better
chance of being read.
- how to build a large and targeted subscriber list.
- how to earn money from your ezine.
- etc.
What I particularly like about "Easy Ezine Toolkit"
is the level of detailed information Michael serves for his
readers. While all the way communicating in a language that's
easy to understand, he gives you enough details to go out and
actually practise what you learn from the book.
For example, Michael's guide to finding a good overall
topic for your ezine (and coming up with hot article ideas) is
really good. One of the very best I've seen.
The chapter with the discussion on which format you should
choose for your ezine - text or html - is fine. But I would
have liked to know Michael's conclusion to the discussion. But
when that's said, I found Michael's step-by-step guide to
formatting your newsletter (whether you choose a text format
or a html format) very good and practical.
His guide to finding a good name for your ezine is also
helpful.
One of the best chapters in the main "Easy Ezine
Toolkit" manual is the chapter on how to write winning
subject lines. This chapter is really good and very practical.
The chapter on getting more subscribers to your ezine
covers the basics and is a good starting point, but if you
want some more advanced tips, you probably want to supplement
with for example Paul Myer's book on the subject.
Most of the information in Michael's book isn't totally
new, never-before-told information. However, I don't think
that has ever been Michael's intention. Rather he intends to
give his readers an easy-to-understand-and-apply, step-by-step
guide to writing, publishing, marketing and distributing your
own electronic newsletter. And based on his personal
experience Michael has picked exactly that information and
those tips which he personally has found most useful in his
own career as a newsletter publisher. This doesn't mean that
you won't learn anything new here. You'll almost certainly
learn some new and very useful information. But another aspect
that's very commendable is the way "Easy Ezine
Toolkit" is written. Michael has written the book in such
a way that you'll get a very good overview over the process of
creating and running your own profitable ezine. You won't get
an encyclopedia on the subject, but rather a really helpful
step-by-step guide to making your online newsletter highly
successful. And personally that's the books I like the most.
One thing I miss in this otherwise excellent course, is a
good contents list. This would have made it easier to navigate
around in the course. However, unlike some of the other
electronic books you'll find on the Internet, Ezine Tools is
set-up really nicely with a clean and professional look, and
the text is easy to read.
Finally, Michael has added some really good bonuses to his
book. These bonuses are really valuable and could be sold as
separate products, had he choosen to do so.
The bonus templates you get, are very, very good. By adding
these professional looking templates, Michael has made it
really easy to get started with your own ezine.
Overall
assessment
In my opinion this is a great book. It covers more ground
than most of the other books I've read on the same subject. At
the same time "Easy Ezine Toolkit" is highly
readable, which is very commendable.
When you read "Easy Ezine Toolkit" you'll get an
excellent guide to creating and running your own successful
online newsletter. You'll learn all the basics of setting up
an ezine that makes you money every time you publish a new
issue.
So, if you want to get a profitable ezine, this is a fine
guide which I strongly recommend.
