Review
Michael Green is probably well known to
many of you. At least he is if you’ve read
my other reviews.
In a short period of time Michael Green has
established himself both as a clever Internet marketer and as
the owner of one of the most
successful and popular
discussion boards on Marketing and
Small Business: How
To Forum.
Forums (also called, 'discussion
boards') can be a terrific way to market
your business - provided you know how to do it.
Unfortunately a lot of forums have been launched during the
past years, only to disappear again. These discussion boards
lost the focus, or the owners didn't know how to profit from
them.
And that's exactly what
Michael Green covers is this book:
You'll learn all the insider tips to starting up and running -
not just yet another discussion board, but a highly successful
and profitable discussion board.
"How To Start A Forum" covers so much more than the title
reveals at first sight. It's much more than just a pure basic
guide to the initial steps you need to take to launch a
discussion board. Rather, in this detailed guide Michael Green
has included
an amazing amount of information about how
to turn a discussion board into a highly profitable project.
He does cover all the basic of how you can
start and run your own successful
discussion board. But he does much more than that.
What I really find attractive in this book
is all the details Michael Green covers.
For example, one of the most popular web
scripts used to run discussion boards, is the famous, free
php-script, PhpBB2. However, one problem with this script is
that the pages generated by this, otherwise excellent, script
doesn't get as easily indexed by some of the search engines as
some of the pages generated by other similiar scripts. How do
you solve this problem? Do you skip this excellent script? Do
you have to pay hundreds of dollars to get another script? Not
if you own, "How To Start A Forum". Because, in "How To Start
A Forum" Michael Green shows you exactly where you can
find the info that'll help you to solve this
problem and optimize the pages generated by PhpBB2 so that
they do get indexed by the search engines. And this really
makes a very, very important difference. Imagine, by using the
guide Michael Green gives you in this course, all the pages
your visitors write for you on your discussion board get
indexed by the search engines and you get much more traffic.
And best of all, your visitors do most of the work for you.
You know, if you want to start a project on
the Internet, it’s usually not enough to get a few theoretic
tips on what to do. No, unless you already have a good grasp
on what you’re doing, you need to know step-by-step what
you’re going to do.
If you want to start a successful
discussion board, you need to lay a plan for your discussion
board. You need to know if there are any potential visitors
who’re interested in visiting and participating in the
discussion on your board. You need to be sure that you’re
willing to pay (mostly in time spent moderating the board)
what it needs to keep the board updated and relevant. You also
need to know which software you’re going to use to run the
board. And of course you need to have a plan for attracting
visitors to your discussion board.
These are just a few points that you need
to prepare for if you want your discussion board to become a
success.
Michael Green all these points
step-by-step. He leaves no stone unturned and gives all the
details you need to go ahead.
The book is easy to read and Michael Green
advice is easy to understand and apply. His writing style is
entertaining and right to the point.
In addition to the main manual you get
two
important and valuable bonus reports that will help
you to solve several typical problems you can run into when
you try to start your own forum.
The first bonus report gives you a very detailed list over web
scripts - free and fee-based - you can use to run your
discussion board.
The second bonus report shows you how to use your discussion
board to get more visitors from the search engines. This is
also the report where you'll find the info I've already
mentioned above, showing you how to solve the problem with
some forum pages not being indexed by the search engines. This
is a very valuable bonus report.
In short, these
bonus reports definitely add to the overall value of this
excellent course.
Overall
assessment
In my opinion Michael Green’s book is a
very, very good help to get started. Michael Green gives you
all the details you need to get started and turn your
discussion board into a highly popular and profitable meeting
place. And I’m not afraid to admit that I personally learnt a
few things that I didn’t know before.
As you may know, I’ve personally run my own
successful and very popular discussion board -
The Profits With
Information Discussion Board -
since the mid-nineties. So, I’ve gotten a
good impression of what it takes to run a successful and busy
discussion board. And I must admit that I'm impressed
by what you get in this course.
If you’d like to get your own successful
discussion board and reap all the benefits from it, I strongly
recommend you this guide by Michael Green.
