James Maduk: "52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About Internet Marketing"

Until recently, I had never before heard about James Maduk. So, to be honest, when I heard about him and his main web site - http://www.jamesmaduk.com - I didn't expect to find anything of particular value. I'm sorry to put it this way, but you know, when you've been on the Internet for a while, and after you've read book after book, course after course, business opportunity after business opportunity, you get used to read the same old stuff over and over. Nothing bad intended here. It's just the way it is, and you'll probably agree with me on this.

Anyway, I decided to take a look at James Maduk's web site, and I was pleasantly surprised. Instead of getting all the usual stuff, I found an Internet marketer who's dared to think differently and go other ways.

You know, one of the major problems to most Internet marketers, is to place themselves in a unique position in the minds of their customers. Almost everybody tries to sell the same kind of products. And when we're talking about information products, you'll find the same products sold all over. For less than $100 you can get the reprint rights to dozens of ebooks. This means that these products are sold by hopeful Internet marketers all over the Internet. But the problem is this: Why should you buy one of these ebooks from one marketer instead of from another. Do you see the point?

So, when all comes to all, you just somehow have to position yourself. You just have to set yourself, your business and your products apart from all your competitors. If you don't, you don't give your potential customers a really good reason to buy from you instead of from others.

"But wait a bit here, Klaus", you probably say. "What has all this to do with a review of James Maduk's book?"

Sorry about that, my friend. Yes, you're totally right. I got sidetracked.

But for a very good reason.

Because, when I visited James Maduk's web site and read the book that I'm now reviewing, "52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About Internet Marketing", I found something very valuable.

You see, if you take a look at the people who've really made it big on the Internet, you'll soon notice that practically all these people have one thing in common:

Almost all of them sell their own, unique products.

Giving it a second thought, don't you agree?

And now we come to the reason why I'm mentioning all this.

I'm always on the outlook for new ways to create your own products that you can sell on the Internet. And when I visited James Maduk's web site, I learned that James Maduk has developed his own, highly effective ways of creating his own products.

Some of his methods are described in this book, "52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About Internet Marketing".

BTW, notice that even the title of the book is unique. It's intriguing, and it makes you wonder what on earth he's talking about.

If you've read a lot of other books on Internet Marketing and Product Development, you'll of course find a lot of stuff that overlaps the other books and courses you've read. But - you'll also find some very valuable and unique information that you don't find in the typical ebook and course on the subject.

In "52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About Internet Marketing" James Maduk shares how he has managed to publish and sell more than 240 products on the Internet. And according to James Maduk himself, his products sell so well that he earns more money than he can spend. So, I guess you can conclude that his methods work, right?!

Many of the book I've read on the subject of Internet Marketing and Product Development give you the impression that the author doesn't speak from his or her own personal experience. The information seems dry and rather theoretic.

But when I read "52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About Internet Marketing" I got a strong impression that James Maduk speaks from his own experience as an Internet marketer. The many real-life illustrations and the practical and realistic instructions, confirm that James Maduk knows what he's talking about. He has actually himself done what he's talking about.

When you skim the contents list of the book, you'll notice that James Maduk covers very much the same material as many other marketers.

But as you dig deeper into his book, you'll notice that James Maduk has developed his own, customized ways of marketing on the Internet.

Of course I don't mean that he uses some kind of never-before-heard-of marketing magic.

He doesn't!

I just mean that he has developed his own unique way of combining the different marketing methods you can use on the Internet. Besides, he has added his own unique flavour.

James Maduk start out with sharing his general, overall strategy for successfully online selling. This part of the book isn't very long, but I totally agree with his observations and conclusions. In my experience, these are tried and proven principles and strategies - despite the fact that so few Internet marketers actually follow them.

James Maduk shows the importance of such concepts as finding the market first, testing, niche marketing etc.

Further, James Maduk shows you how to set up a strong offer on Internet. James really does a good job here. I don't doubt that a lot of Internet marketers would be more successful if they had followed these guidelines. For example, he warns again the danger of creating offers that seem hyped and are based on generic claims. This part of the book is really good.

Next, James Maduk shows his readers how to build a web site that actually sells. So many web sites look good and professional. They just have one error: They don't sell. James Maduk shows you how you can easily make a web site that actually sells. A web site with a strong offer that seems almost irresistabel to your visitors.

Sometimes you get the impression that it's terrible difficult to create a good web site. You get the impression that you need to know a lot about HTML or be very clever at web design. James Maduk shows his readers that it can be very easy to make a Direct Reponse web site - that is, a web site that sells. He also shows you how to create a whole network of minisites that work together and sell your products.

James Maduk also shows you how to use the different tools and resources to get more visitors to your web site. Among other things, he covers such traffic generators as search engines and how to customize your sites so that the they'll rank higher on the search engines.

James Maduk really has a good understanding of how you can use laser-focused, socalled, "theme sites", to build your e-business. He emphasizes the importance of setting up a web site that only has one goal: To get the email-address of the visitor, and get the acceptance of your visitor to contact him or her regularly.

This is another really good part of "52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About Internet Marketing". James Maduk shares his own experiences on this point and how, through a lot of testing, he finally learned the right way to get serious business on the Internet.

All this is just excellent, and you'll get a lot of condensed, highly valuable information here that you would otherwise have to buy many books to get.

But what really sets James Maduk from most other Internet marketers are his product development methods.

Whereas most other marketers write ebooks or arrange some kind of seminar, James Maduk has his own unique way of creating information products: He uses audio-tutorials.

"What?", you say. "What are you talking about?"

Yes, I wondered too, at first.

What James Maduk is doing is that he creates ebooks (pdf-files) that contain links to audio- and video-files on the Internet. In other words, his books are multimedia books. In most of his books, James Maduk uses a whiteboard to illustrate what he's saying. So, you don't only read these books. No, you also listen and view. They are tutorials in the real sense of the word.

So far as I can see, "52 Secrets My Mom Never Told Me About Internet Marketing" is the only exception to this. It a pure pdf-file without any audio- or video-files.

Overall assessment

This is a really good book! Much different from most of the other superficial, theoretical ebooks (on Internet Marketing) published all over the Internet.

I give this book my strongest recommendations!
