As it’s become less and less efficient to use the ’old’ kind of pop-ups on your web site, several new pop-up generators have seen the light of the day. Whereas the ‘old’ kind of pop-ups could easily be ‘killed’ by one of the many pop-up killer software applications, it’s become necessary to find new ways to generate pop-up messages.

The new pop-up generators generate pop-up boxes that can’t be ‘killed’ by the pop-up killer programs.

One of these new pop-up generators is, “Hover Ad Generator”. Just be clicking a few places and entering the message you want to display in your pop-ups, this application will quickly generate exactly the pop-up boxes you like to display on your web site.

“Hover Ad Generator” was easy to install. You don’t need to change anything in the set up. You just double click the set-up file, and you’re up and running.

The only technical problem I’ve had with the program was when I tested it on my Windows 98 computer. The program worked fine, but when I tried to close it, I got an error message. I asked NovaSoft (the company behind “Hover Ad Generator”) about the problem. They were very friendly and helpful. My conclusion is that the problem probably was caused by all the programs I had stuffed that computer with. The hard disk was almost filled up to the last megabyte. On my Windows XP computer there are no problems.

When you open “Hover Ad Generator” and click on “new” you’ll see a screen view where you’re asked to select the kind of pop-up you want to generate.

You can choose between:

• Sticky Note (like a PostIt label that your visitor can drag around on the screen and close)
• Window (just like a floating window you can minimize or maximize etc.)
• Wiggler (a pop-up ad that falls in from the top)
• Opt-in (an pop-up giving your visitors the option to subscribe to your opt-in list)
• Sale Bagger (a pop-up window with a count down timer in it)

As you can see, these are some of the most important pop-up windows you need in order to maximize the conversion rate on your web site – whether you want to get more subscribers, more orders or something else.

By clicking a button at the bottom of the program display, you can see each type of pop-up window in action. This helps you to get a better impression of how each pop-up works and what it looks like.

In the next screen view you decide which dimensions you want your pop-up to have, set the offer time limit (if you’ve chosen the Sale Bagger pop-up), how you want the pop-up to slide in, the title caption, whether you want to place a cookie on your visitors computer, the color of the text etc. In short all the details in your pop-ups.

In the third screen view you enter the text you want to display in your pop-up ad. Then you just click the Next-button, and you’ve just generated your ad-code. Paste it into the html-code on your web site, and your visitors will see it.

One thing I really here is the fine overview you have all the way through the process of generated your pop-up ads. The instructions are straightforward and very easy to follow.

When I tested “Hover Ad Generator” I didn’t need to consult the help file. I just followed the instructions in the program itself. But if you run into problems, the help file is easy to understand, short and right to the point.

Overall assessment

“Hover Ad Generator” is a very flexible program. And that’s one of the greatest strengths. It has all the features you could expect from a good pop-up generating program. You can  pretty much generate all the pop-ups you’ll ever need.

The software is really easy to use, and if you run into a problem, the help file will probably help you out.

All in all I think that “Hover Ad Generator” is an excellent program.
