Review
David Garfinkel is, in my
opinion, one of today's best copywriters. He has some proven
results from his copywriting to point to.
For instance, David once wrote a sales letter for a travel
agency in Phoenix which proved to be so successful that the
agency could barely keep up with all the inquiries from people
that had read the letter. Six years later the president of
that travel agency told David that his salesletter was
directly responsible for earning the agency "$5 million
in new annual (recurring) business".
And in the course, David has included one of his salesletters
that sold over $130,000 in software for a small business owned
by just one person. Talk about successful copywriting!
Besides, David has got some strong testimonials from such
famous marketers as Jay Conrad Levinson and Alan Weiss (who
calls David a "copywriting genius").
Even though he definitely is a master copywriter, David
Garfinkel doesn't claim to be the best copywriter in the
world. BUT he claims to be the world's best TEACHER of
copywriting.
David has a background in journalism, and when he teaches
others how to write effective sales copy, he draws on what he
learned in this profession.
And after having listened to the audio-sessions by David
Garfinkel and gone through the written stuff in this course, I
agree that he is definitely a very good teacher in
copywriting.
David has a way of showing his listeners and readers how to
write sales-copy without making it sound dry and boring. You
know, some of the other books and courses on copywriting make
the subject seem so boring that you really need some willpower
if you want to complete the course.
Not so David Garfinkel. He always seems inspiring and
motivating. And I really like his relaxed and entertaining,
yet very informative way of showing his listeners and readers
how to write orderpulling salescopy.
And due to David's highly pedagogical way of teaching and the
many interactive exercises in the course, I really believe
that it's possible to learn the art of copywriting through
this course. These exercises helps you to remember the stuff
much better.
David doesn't intend to reinvent the wheel. Instead he shows
how the old and proven principles, formulated by the old
masters of copywriting, is still valid - even on the Internet.
Step by step David Garfinkel shows how write salescopy for
different medias such as sales letters, ads, promotional
flyers, brochures and the web.
He covers some of the most important techniques for making
your sales copy "sizzle", as we say. He covers the
importance of using different "power words" for
maximum response. He shows what makes some headlines stand out
among the rest and catches the attention of the readers.
What I found most inspiring, though, is David's emphasis on
understanding THE PSYCHOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES that lays behind
the art of "Salesmanship by print". David reveals
the factors that causes people to begin reading the copy,
continue to do so to the end, and then take that final step
and actually place the order.
David Garfinkel also covers some subjects not usually covered
in most books and courses on copywriting. For instance, he has
a whole session on how to start your own copywriting business.
Just this part alone, is worth the total price of the course.
Summary
This course is, in my opinion, one of the absolute most
helpful courses on learning how to write effective,
orderpulling sales copy.
David Garfinkel uses his background both as a top-professional
copywriter and a journalist to help his listeners and readers
to learn copywriting. This makes this course very easy to
understand and follow.
David offers both a lot of extremely important techniques and
an overall copywriting strategy, based on years and years of
intense study of the psychological mindset of the buyers.
So take my advice, and invest in this course. It's a
"must have" which should definitely belong to every
entreprenuers library.
