Review

”Covert Affiliate” is a software application that can help you to protect your earnings an affiliate. As you probably know, ‘stealing’ affiliate commissions by changing affiliate URLs is a huge threat against all affiliate marketers.

”Covert Affiliate” is designed to make it much more difficult to let others ‘steal’ your affiliate commissions.

If you use ”Covert Affiliate” you have two different options for protecting your affiliate links.

The first option is the Embedded Mode. In this mode your affiliate code will be inserted in the html page itself. Besides, a cookie will be placed on your visitor’s computer.

The second option is the Cloaked Affiliate Link Mode. In this mode when your visitor clicks on your affiliate link (that doesn’t look like an affiliate link) he will be redirected to a page of your choice.

Both options work fine. Which option you choose to use, depends upon what you want to do.

If you compare ”Covert Affiliate” with some of the other programs that intend to protect your affiliate commissions, you’ll notice that the pages generated by ”Covert Affiliate” are redirect pages.

Several of the other affiliate protection programs use invisible frames to protect the affiliate links.

Which options you prefer is partly a matter of personal taste.

I think that the redirect method (including placing a cookie on your visitor’s computer) protects your affiliate links better. If you have some experience as an Internet surfer, it’s fairly easy to view the ‘invisible’ frame.

On the other hand, at least one well known marketer (Mark Idzik) says that using the ‘invisible’ frame method has caused his pages to rank much higher on Google.

But if you want to protect your affiliate commissions, the redirect method is probably safest.

”Covert Affiliate” is very easy to use. For example, if you place your mouse over a button, a little pop-up text will immediately tell you what that button does.

It’s obvious that the programmers behind ”Covert Affiliate” has done a lot to assure that the security level of the generated affiliate links, is high. They point out that the common way of protecting affiliate links – namely using hexadecimal code – isn’t as safe as you’re often told. If you have a HEX conversion table, you can easily decrypt the hexadecimal code.

”Covert Affiliate” is intended to bypass this security problem.

First of all, the code that ”Covert Affiliate” generates is encrypted so that 99+% of all your visitors won’t have a chance to decrypt it.

Secondly, one genius little feature in ”Covert Affiliate” is the ability to place cookies on your visitors computer. So, for instance, if someone visits one of your web pages with your affiliate link, you’ll get an affiliate commission if that visitor later on decides to order that product – even if he or she doesn’t order it through your web site and your affiliate links. Once the cookie is placed on your visitor’s computer, you’ll get your commission.

Now, of course it’s possible for a smart visitor to bypass this process. He (or she) can just delete cookies on his computer.

But still, most people on the Internet don’t do that – particularly when they don’t have clue that the cookie is placed on the computer.

Someone may ask if this is ethical. In my opinion I don’t see a problem here. If someone visits your web site and learn about a new, useful product – through you – isn’t it fair that you should get your share for telling that person about that product? Particularly if that visitors isn’t going to pay more because you get your commission!

Overall assessment

In my opinion the company behind ”Covert Affiliate”, NovaSoft, has produced a really useful and great software application.

”Covert Affiliate” works really well. It’s easy to use, and you have a much, much better chance of protecting your affiliate links and commissions. Of course it’s not 100% impossible for a really clever computer nerd to break your encrypted pages and links. But it’s definitely, much more difficult than if you don’t use a product like ”Covert Affiliate”.

If you sell affiliate product and want to protect your affiliate links better, I predict that you’ll really like this software application.
