Review

You hear it said time and time again: "If you want to really succeed as an Internet entrepreneur, you need to have your own product to sell. That's where the really serious money is."

But the question is, How do you make your own products?

This new book by Bryan Honesty, "Electrifying Ebooks", show one way to do it. Bryan shows his readers how they can create their own ebooks in minimum time. Actually, he promises his readers that they'll be able to create an ebook in as little as 26 hours.

So, of course I thought that the theme of this book sounded interesting.

What I found was a complete system of writing your own books (in electronic format or not). Other books have been written on the same subject, but Bryan's book focuses explicitly on the writing process, how you can make it as enjoyable and easy as possible.

The book is set up as a course which you follow hour by hour (all in all 26 hours). Step by step Bryan Honesty shows you what to do in order to write your own ebooks.

First he shows you different types of books that you can create. Some of these types of books are pretty fast to create to create and have been hot sellers on the Internet.

Next, Bryan shows you how to make a good and useful outline for your book and how to turn that outline into a complete book.

Bryan's outlining method is rather sophisticated, without being too difficult and complicated. It's a complete method to making the writing process easier for you.

Bryans has created a detailed system of making effective outlines that'll make it much easier for you to write your own books. Actually your book will almost write itself. Of course YOU will have to write the book. But if you use Bryan's method, you'll know precisely what to put into your book and where to put it.

One of the most serious hindrances to writing a book is that you don't know what to write next.

Another hindrance is to limit yourself. Some people just can't ever get finished. They write and write, and they still think there's more to say. And of course they're right, there is almost always more to say. But if you don't limit your self, you'll never get finished with your book.

Bryan's outlining and writing system solves these problems. When you use his system you'll know precisely what to write. And you won't write and write endlessly without knowing when to stop. Instead you'll be able to write what you need to write and limit yourself.

One question I had in mind when I read Bryan's book was, how it fares compared to Steve Manning's famous writing and outlining system. If you've read any of the other reviews I've written, you'll know that I've written a review of Steve Manning's course. Then you'll know that I'm rather positive to Steve Manning's course, which is a really big step forward.

But back to the question: How does Bryan's outlining system compare to Steve Manning's outlining system?

You could probably say that Bryan's outlining system is more detailed and strict than Steve Manning's outlining system and probably also more flexible. Steve Manning's outlining system, on the other hand, is perfect if you're planning to write a normal retail book ranging two hundred pages or so.

Besides, Bryan's system seems a little bit more strict to me, whereas Steve Manning's outlining system leaves more room for unleashing your intuitive side while still keeping your writing within the boundaries you've set.

Which of these two outlining systems is the best? It's difficult to say, as they each have their particular strengths and weaknesses. Each of them can be used with great success, and which system you prefer is probably a question of temperament.

Personally I like Steve Manning's outlining system. But for some tasks I've felt that it's not flexible enough, despite it's intuitive element. In particular I think that Steve Manning's three power-word method is not always suitable for all kinds of writing. If you don't know what I mean by the three power-word method, you'll have to read Steve's fantastic course, which really more than delivers on almost all points.

In my opinion the three power-word method is at the same time both the strongest and the weakest part of Steve Manning's system. It's an excellent method to help you writing intuitively while at the same time limiting the length of what you're writing. But sometimes you may want to write something that doesn't fit nicely in Steve's system. Actually, if you take a close look at Steve's own writing course, you'll notice that he seemingly hasn't applied his own writing rules. His chapters are often shorter or longer than he recommends, and it doesn't seem like he starts each new chapter or section with what he calls a power word.

Now, this isn't a new review of Steve Manning's course, but as I compared his course to Bryan Honesty's, I thought that it's relevant to mention these points.

Bryan Honesty's system, on the other hand, is easier to apply immediately to different kinds of writings. But the weakness of his system is that it doesn't help you so much to limit the length of your writings. Actually Bryan encourages his readers to fill in as many sections as possible. Thus, you may be tempted to write on and on, and never seem able to get finished.

The conclusion is that Bryan Honesty's outlining system may be useful in the instances where Steve Manning's outlining system falls short. And the opposite goes too: Steve Manning's outlining system may be useful in the instances where Bryan Honesty's outlining system falls short.

So, you could benefit from using both these two systems - in different contexts - if you want to get optimum results.

I don't say this to be diplomatic, but rather because I really think both systems have their particular strengths and weaknesses. Consequently you ought to use both systems, instead of just one of them.

Overall assessment

In my opinion "Electrifying Ebooks" by Bryan Honesty is a very helpful and valuable book.

I really appreciate that Bryan Honesty has had the courage to think for himself.

Instead of just blindly copying what other experts on writing have said, Bryan Honesty has created his own, unique writing system.

Creating your own products is very important. Doing this will make you stand out compared to your competitors.

If you want to accomplish that, I think "Electrifying Ebooks" by Bryan Honesty is a very good place to start.
