profile
What have you worked
with before you began as a direct marketer, and maybe a little
bit about your educational background?
My Internet Marketing Career wasn't always a "Bed of
Roses".
I was a Disabled Persian Gulf War Veteran and Paratrooper in a
unit called 1st Anglico, which was attached to Marine Recon. I
left the Marine Corps on a 40% Disability after seriously
injuring my back. Knowing that $400.00/mo. wouldn't even pay
the bills for the small mobile home I live in, out of
desparity, I dropped out of college because my GI Bill ran out
just 4 classes from completing a B.B.A. in Business with an
Emphasis in Human Resources Management.
I needed to learn the Skills to become a good internet
marketer so I went to Education to go http://www.ed2go.com
back in late 1998 to get the computer skills I needed to get
me going.
My First Venture Began with a Product Called Reprints Galore. http://www.garvinweb.com/reprints_galore.shtml.
I made almost $11,000.00 with it the first year. People Loved
it! Never had any returns!
So I sat down one night and said, If Reprints Galore made me
all this and people loved this product so much, what if I
could give each Internet Newbie an Entire Internet Community
that they could setup with minimum effort and profit from for
the rest of their life. It took me 18 months of Perspiration
to develop the MONEY! CD, while Reprints Galore was making me
just enough to keep me head above water.
About 6 months ago, I also started bidding on targeted
keywords on certain affiliate programs and sell everything on
the Garvinweb.com site from Viagra, Treadmills and Casino
eBooks. This pulled me in about $4,000.00 monthly, but was
just enough to still keep me above water due to my Development
Costs rising.
Here's how OptIn Lightning came about Klaus. About midway
through the Development of the MONEY! Program, I was looking
for a reliable Mailing List Management Solution for my Dealers
I could include as part of the Package and simply found none.
So simply put, I just decided to Hire a Programmer to Create
one, and I found the right one. OptIn Lightning was passed
around for about 6 months back and forth with Experienced
Programmers such as Gary Ambrose (secretfortune.com), Donald
Rowell (lordjava.com), Lee Benson (ezinetactics.com) and Amir
Segal (superlative.com) which has a Masters Degree in Computer
Science. It was being beta tested by me for the last few
months, because we wanted to insure a release of the Software
Completely Bug Free and Wanted to insure everyone using it
could install it easily and quickly.
Could you please tell
us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies, your family
etc., if you like?
I live a Very Simple life in a Small Mobile Home Park in
Oceanside, CA. with my Small Kitten Suds, about 1 Mile from
the Ocean. It has very quick access to the Freeway and
Shopping, and the Population is about 150,000, including the
Marines Stationed at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base Less than
one mile away which I was stationed at the bulk of my time in
the service. Once in a while, Suds will *give* me permission
to ride my Mountain Bike. Even when I get rich from the
Internet, I have no intention of altering my lifestyle. I got
involved originally for extra money to live on but I love the
peacefulness of this retirement community (even though I'm
only 31 hehehe..)

What is your unique
way of doing business?
I always like to follow the "Golden Rule" when doing
business. It never fails me. Each time I answer an email or
pick up the phone I remember how I started in Internet
Marketing. The Internet Marketing community has been overly
grateful to me, so I want to give the same kind of personal
attention and help to every newbie I meet so they can
hopefully capture that 'spark' that will help them succeed as
well. I think the Key is not ever forgetting how you started
so struggling newcomers can relate to you better.
What is your business
motto (if you have one)?
My Motto is simple, "Treat each Customer like Gold"
They're Paying your way and making your business, they deserve
all your time and attention.
Could you tell us a little bit about your future vision for
your business and small businesses in general?
My Future Vision is to make eCommerce a More Stable Business
Model by creating all the Tools, Software and Resources
Business owners will need to run an efficient business on the
web. That will allow the Small Business owner to actually set
up a powerful Internet Business without drowning in debt
first.

will be my next project, and I'm working with Gary Ambrose and
Donald Rowell with this. Estimated Launch date for that is Jan
2002. It will include the ability for users to run 15 optin
lists, 30 ad tracking campaigns with unlimited subcampaigns
and a reminder system with up to 10 reminder profiles.
