Review

During the last two years several books, manuals and courses have been written on how to sell information products on the Internet.

One of these manuals is written by Barbara Besteni, well known expert on creating videos on a small budget. Barb (that’s what she prefer to called) has created and published both reports, newsletters and videos on this subject. So she is definitely not a newcomer in the information business.

Actually, Barb is so famous that she is featured in: “Who’s Who In Entertainment 1989-Present” and “Who’s Who In The World 1989-Present”.

Personally I first got aware of Barb a few years ago by reading Marlon Sanders’ strong endorsement of her and her business.

So now Barb Besteni has written a manual on how to create and sell your selfpublished information.

The first thing I noticed about Barb’s book was that it doesn’t look quite like all the rest of the books and courses on this subject. You know, after having read just a couple of these books, you almost know in advance what they are going to say.

Barb does cover all the basics, like so many other authors. But she does it in her own, unique way.

First of all, Barb’s book is really a pleasure to read. It’s not just a dry, theoretic explanation of how to do it. It just reads like a dream, you could say. Barb is both funny and interesting. And her manual is very personal. Instead of just jotting down a few impersonal and theoretic rules for writing ebooks, she conveys her message in such a personal tone that you almost feel she has written a personal letter to you. At least that’s the way I felt.

She tells her own story about how she went from near personal catastrophe to victory – by creating and selling her own information products. You know it’s no problem to have an opinion about how to create and sell information on the Internet. Everybody can have that, right? But Barb bases her information on her own hard learned experiences of what works and what don’t.

The second thing I noticed about Barb’s book was that it goes beyond most of the other books and courses on infopreneuring. Not that it’s a heavy, thousand page plus course. No! Barb just cuts right to the bone and shows what has worked for her. And I really like that she doesn’t just limit her guidance to selling information on the Internet. She also shows how to sell information in the “real” world.

Besides, she doesn’t just limit information products to ebooks, like some authors of other books seem to do. Of course ebooks are hot right now. And there is nothing wrong with showing others how to create and sell ebooks. My point is just that there is so many other kinds of information that can be sold profitable, too. Why limit your products to ebooks when you can easily maximize your profits by other kinds of products too?

Another feature of Barb’s manual is that she doesn’t limit marketing to the “traditional” ways of marketing on the Internet. She also shows how to get “free publicity” through press releases and other ways.

But of course Barb does also show her readers how to market their information products on the Internet. And in this part of her manual I think she gives some really good advice. Instead of just going through a few techniques, she shows her readers the underlying psychology of the Internet user. She shows the importance of networking on the Internet and gaining the trust of the potential customer by building one’s credibility in the eyes of this customer.

One final very positive aspect of Barb’s manual is that it is so strong on motivating it’s readers. Time and time again you see that the biggest hindrance for people to succeed on the Internet (or in any business, for that sake) is not a lack of techniques or technological equipment. No, instead it is their own weak psyche. And precisely with respect to this problem, I think Barb has written a really motivating manual.

But isn’t there some negative sides of this manual? I tried to find some, but actually I think it’s one of the very best manuals on it’s subject. The only little critical comment I could come up with, is that I could wish to hear more about a few of the different points in the book. I mean, Barb touches some marketing techniques that is so important and seems so interesting that the reader would probably be interested in learning even more about this. But actually, in all fairness, this can hardly be called a criticism, as it just shows how interesting and helpful Barb’s manual is. Barb’s manual gives you a taste for more. And if someone would like to learn more, I know that Barb is periodically arranging seminars.

In summary

This is certainly a very good manual on earning money through selling information. It’s very realistic, and it cuts away much of all the fluff you’ll find in some other books on the subject. In my opinion it’s one of the best, most practical and realistic guides to create your own information product and actually get it sold.

Barb covers all the techniques and methods you need in order to create and sell your product. But in addition to this, her manual is a very strong motivator for the newcomer and the more experienced infopreneur alike.

I would definitely recommend this book!
